My volcano research focuses on using DAS and seismic networks to monitor volcanic environments, detect small earthquakes, and image the subsurface. I am interested in how dense seismic observations can help investigate complex volcanic and hydrothermal plumbing systems.

Mount Rainier

During 2023-2024, we deployed DAS along a dark fiber route on the southern flank of Mount Rainier. I use template matching and cross-correlation to detect microearthquakes and compare DAS detections with local seismic network observations.

Cordón Caulle, Chile

At Cordón Caulle, we deployed DAS across a hydrothermal system associated with shallow magmatic and hydrothermal activity. I am using ambient-noise imaging to characterize the subsurface and investigate the volcanic plumbing system.
